HomeThe SLS Detector Group is part of the Swiss Light Source (SLS) at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI). Our research is focused on the development of new single photon counting detectors, which can handle high data rates with the best possible dynamic range and negligible read-out time. These instruments will make optimum use of the x-ray beams produced at the SLS, enabling new techniques and experiments. Besides the one-dimensional MYTHEN detector system for powder diffraction experiments and the two-dimensional PILATUS detector system for macromolecular crystallography our newest develpment is the EIGER detector. CommercializationDECTRIS Ltd. has been founded on the 10.10.2006 to sell, support and further develop PILATUS and MYTHEN detectors, which were originally designed by the SLS Detector Group. This makes DECTRIS the first company worldwide to offer novel hybrid-pixel X-ray detector systems for areas such as basic research at synchrotron light sources, laboratory diffraction systems or industrial and medical applications. LocationWe are located at the Paul Scherrer Institut in CH-5232 Villigen, Switzerland, about 35 km north-west of Zurich and 55 km east of Basel. You can reach us either by public transport or by car. Information on the location of the numerous buildings at the PSI can be taken from this map. ContactFor questions concerning the PILATUS project please contact Ch. Broennimann, for the MYTHEN project B. Schmitt and for general inquiries our secretary Ch. Heer.
